Who are Little Talkers classes for?

Little Talkers classes are designed to meet the needs of pre-verbal, early talkers, emerging talkers and expanding talkers. Class is open to babies and toddlers 6-36 months. Each class is tailored to meet the needs of the participants and is responsive to your little one’s verbal and communication skills, as well as their movement or sensory needs.

What can I expect in a Little Talkers class?

Each class is 45 minutes and has a predictable format where the SLPs will discuss concepts to be targeted in the class and guide you through engaging activities reinforcing them. At the end of class, time is allotted to review practice skills and provide ideas for carryover activities at home. This will also be a time to mingle with other participants and ask questions to the speech-language pathologists.

How do I register for a class or for a package?

You can register for our language enrichment classes individually if offered as a “pop up” class or purchase a 5-week class package. Packages are strongly encouraged as the class consistency allows you and your little one to get accustomed to the routines and get the most out of the experience. The 45 minute class is led by speech-language pathologists and is tailored specifically to support speech, language, social, and cognitive skills at this critical learning stage. When in class, parent/caregiver should be engaged and involved in order to help support their child’s participation and to get the most out of the class.

Are siblings allowed to attend?

In order for class participants to have a meaningful class, we ask that no other siblings are present for class, unless they meet the age criteria for that selected class or Little Talkers.co permission is given.

What happens if there is inclement weather?

During the fall, spring, and summer months, group classes will be largely offered outside at local public parks. Please bring a towel, blanket or mat for you and your little one as well as any food, drink, or personal items you may need. We hope to keep all outdoor classes as scheduled but also want to make sure everyone is comfortable and safe during our time together. The weather will be assessed 1-2 hours prior to the class start time. If the class is to be canceled, an email will be sent to the email used to register. An inclement makeup held on the 6th week will be indicated at registration. For the winter months, we will be indoors at a rented facility. In the event of inclement weather, we will follow the closing of the local schools in the area. If class is still be on and you have decided not to attend due to weather, this will count as a “no show” and you will not be eligible for make-up options.

What is Little Talkers’ cancellation policy?

Registration for both bundled and individual classes are non-refundable.

What is your make-up policy?

Make-ups are not guaranteed and are subject to class enrollment and availability. In the event of sickness, we ask that you provide written notice by email 48 hours prior to the class. If the semester allows for a make-up session, participants are eligible for one make-up credit per semester. No shows will not be provided the make-up credit option.

What if my little one is sick?

If your child has any type of illness or is contagious, please keep them home until they are feeling better. Reach out to your individual therapist to cancel at home sessions due to illness. To participate in any Little Talkers classes, children must be fever and vomit-free for 24 hours.

Do you offer private therapy?

Language enrichment classes are considered good practice for all children 6-36 months to build their social, cognitive, and speech-language skills; however, they are not a substitute for formal speech-language therapy. If you are concerned about your child’s development please consult with your pediatrician and the Little Talkers team. Our skilled speech-language pathologists offer a 15-20 minute “quick-consult” by phone to determine if therapy is warranted.

If so, the initial session will be a meet and greet to establish rapport between the therapist and family as well as determine an individualized treatment plan for your little one. Sessions are conducted once a week for 30 or 45 minutes. Included in this time is a “wrap-up” for the therapist to discuss what was worked on at the session, progress, and ways to carryover skills throughout the week. Longer consult times can be requested.
